Courage doesn’t come from a place of comfort. This has been a theme for me in recent months as I find myself stepping out of my comfort space more and more each day. Things that usually feel intimidating or intangible seem more within reach than ever before. I am saying yes to new opportunities and seeking the balance between comfort and courage.
This fall I will be leaving the classroom to focus on Growing Grounded, the wellness practice I have been working to create over the past few years. Growing Grounded is a creative approach to Yoga and Mindfulness, with an emphasis on whole-child wellness. I have been working with students one on one and in small groups to understand the importance of self-awareness, patience, and confidence. We also work on executive function; organization, planning and goal setting. My goal is to introduce tools and strategies which children can practice and implement throughout their lives. Establishing a solid foundation at an early age is imperative.
My time at Trinity has been full of growth and opportunity, and my colleagues have taught me the value of following your heart and taking a risk. So as I continue to build this practice and embrace the nervous excitement, I hope you will follow along.
