Go Dawgs, Roll Tide, and thank you teachers.
While bulldog fans nationwide are still on a high from the incredible Rose Bowl victory in Pasadena, Bama fans are gearing up for yet another chance at a National Championship title. Homes are divided all over the south, and die hard fans are making their way to Atlanta to cheer their teams on to victory. It will undoubtedly be a great game...and a huge accomplishment for the SEC to once again have two teams competing for the ultimate title. While its safe to say that the football finale will the focus for most, there is something else exciting going on surrounding the National Championship.
In conjunction with the biggest college football game of the year, the College Football Playoff Foundation hosts an event called the Extra Yard Teachers Summit. The Summit serves as the primary platform for the Foundation as it celebrates all the inspiring and empowering teachers who have played a role in the academic success of all students, particularly the young athletes who are coming together to play in the game.
In addition to Atlanta being host to the game itself, the Extra Yard Teachers Summit will be held on Saturday, January 6th at the World Congress Center. While the Summit is a Ted Talk type of experience, the Extra Yard Teacher Lounge will be open throughout the day as a place for teachers to relax and reset as they embark on the second half of the school year. Think yoga, massages, zen rooms, delicious food, and more.
Growing Grounded is honored to be invited to participate in this unique experience. I am thrilled to share tips and strategies for integrating Mindfulness into the classroom setting, as well as self care and wellness tips for teachers. While I may not be spending my days in the classroom anymore, I am committed to helping students. educators, executives, and everyone in between, be their best self in 2018.
