Book Club

Reading with friends...just like Mom!

Modeled after an adult monthly meeting, kids love book club too! During book club the small group will read the chosen book together, discuss the book, build creative writing skills, and practice age appropriate literacy skills in a Zoom room.

The details:

- Each meeting is 30-45 minutes and involves reading, writing, and literacy skills.

- Book clubs meet once or twice a week (your preference) until we finish the book (it is usually about a month, they will do some reading on their own.)

- I have specific books I use for each grade but am always flexible.

*If you are looking for a fun way for your child to read, develop skills, and connect with friends, this is for you!

Books and Bends

Literacy inspired Mindfulness curriculum designed for the littles

Books and Bends is a literacy inspired Mindfulness curriculum designed for young children. During each session a new book will be introduced to support yoga poses, breathing techniques, and imaginative relaxation. Children will learn to pay attention to the present moment and be in touch with their own feelings and senses in order to best support their learning.

With over ten years of classroom experience and several years coaching Mindfulness to individuals as well as Atlanta area schools, Sarah combines her teaching style, classroom management techniques, and passion for wellness to create a unique program for kids.

How it works:

  • Create a group of 3-5 friends (ages Pre-K and up, books determined by age group) to meet weekly or bi-weekly.

  • Groups will receive a zoom link before each session. At your designated time, log in, and Sarah will lead a 30 minute session to include the book, a lesson, and a simple yet powerful mindfulness technique.

  • Lessons are meant to be “hands off” for parents; children should be able to attend by themselves.

  • I will provide the book, and should you need any supplies (such as markers, paper, pencil) you will know well in advance.

  • A new book will be introduced for each lesson.

Virtual Reality Experience

A unique and memorable family experience designed to capture your greatest imagination and tap into your fullest potential

After years of working with Vestigo as a program facilitator, Sarah Bristow, founder of Growing Grounded, is embedding the principle of Mindset exploration into her unique coaching process. Through the use of Virtual Reality programs, we will work together to overcome obstacles, work through adversity, and think creatively - skills which can be developed right now in an effort to cultivate them for years to come. The growth mindset provides an empowering perspective on learning and allows the focus to be on improving and strengthening skills.

The series of three experiences include:

Experience 1: Get Comfortable with Discomfort

Experience 2: Communication Under Pressure

Experience 3: Nature Treks

What does this program look like?

Growing Grounded has developed a three part virtual reality experience for families or groups to be done...virtually from your own private space! The experience will include three unique programs followed by a facilitated discussion and unique coaching insights.

Your family will receive one headset for the week, and as a group participate together in a total of three different experiences. Led virtually by Health and Wellness Coach Sarah Bristow, families will take part in one experience per day for three days, with each experience lasting approximately two hours. Each family member will have a turn with the headset to participate in the designated program, followed by a facilitated group discussion to recap the lesson. Whole group discussion as well as break out rooms are available.
